well at least that's moderately funny, but I think the first line should end with a comma rather than a period.[/quote]
Yeah, I was unsure about that so I consulted Strunk and White. Although the period is acceptable, as independent clauses which are intended to form a complete thought I think the most appropriate would be the semi colon. I think it would have been funnier had someone made a poetry reference earlier on. Maybe he (I'm assuming) could have gone with something like this:
Hay Dallas, a new reviewer is in town jockeying for a position in the foodie community. In the time I've lived in Dallas the Observer's critics have had difficulty reining in a large following. Maybe going with a philly is the answer, but personally I would have hoped for a pure bred Dallasite. I'm sure by now Scott has herded up everything she's written since her SAT, but, unless I missed something, he's been relatively silent on the subject. She seems to have a wide gait, taking on a variety of food issues from the restaurant business, to farming, to history. She seems to write with an information-dense style, which is nice for geeks like me, but I'd also like to see something a bit more cheeky, a la TG. I don't have any opinion on the the anonymity issue, but she's sure to face some criticism for that. Hopefully she can just take it in stride. big teeth.
